Locanda Ca'Valeri

For a splendid stay in Venice, treat yourself to Locanda Ca’Valeri, a quaint bed and breakfast just minutes from San Marco Square.

We were greeted by the owner and graciously led to our lovely room at the top of the small, winding staircase. As we entered our room, I was taken with the beautiful hardwood floors and Murano glass chandelier and lamps. Beautiful antique dressers accented the room. The tall ceilings with wooden beams added to the charm. The bathroom was recently remodeled, with new tile covering the floor and walls.

Breakfast was served to our room each morning, with a lovely assortment of breads, hot coffee or chocolate.

The staff was very accommodating, anxious to assist you with dining or entertainment suggestions, even providing coupons for hotel guests. The hotel also includes a one-way boat ride to Murano, to tour the island made famous for its glass. For more information: Locanda Ca'Valeri

La Ghiandaia

Treat yourself to a taste of Tuscany at its finest. Located in the rolling hills of Saertano at the foot of Mount Cetona lies La Ghiandaia, a 1,700 year old converted Church which boasts several uniquely decorated guest rooms in classic Tuscan design.

The owners are a delight, and supply a wonderful breakfast each morning with a spread of rolls, bread, cheese, meat, cereal, jams, juices, coffee, and tea. While you eat, you can enjoy the breathtaking views all around. There is a large swimming pool for guests amidst the gardens.

Within a short distance of the Auto Strade and half way between Florence and Rome, La Ghiandaia is an excellent base for your excursions throughout Tuscany. Day trips are easily accessible by highway. Or, for a more relaxing trip, there is plenty of enjoyment to be found just staying on the grounds and renting bikes, hiking, or swimming. It's also an ideal stopping point after taking a scenic drive through Tuscany on S146 from Montalcino to Montepulciano, as recommended by Rick Steves. Sibilla Resort

Looking for a lovely stay in Tivoli? I highly recommend The Sibillia Resort, located in the heart of Tivoli. These private apartments are the ideal way to spend quality vacation time while feeling right at home. Each apartment contains a full kitchen stocked with cookware, dishes, utensils, a refrigerator, and a stove. In addition you will find an oversized bedroom, complete with an outstanding view of Tivoli.

During our stay, we were provided with an excellent breakfast, served to our apartment with a lovely assortment of breads, cheeses, meats, and juice. Hot coffee or chocolate are provided at your request.

The owners add their personal touches with colorful décor, personal items, reading materials, and games for your enjoyment. Treat yourself to a manicure while you are there and test out a new perfume. Read a book or magazine from the large collection within your room. Add your own note to the guest book, or just enjoy reading comments from guests that have stayed at the Sibilla before you.

It is truly your home away from home.

The owners are currently restoring a home in Montepulciano, Tuscany. Suzanne & Fabio are lovely hosts, and once this resort is open, I'm confident it would also be a fabulous stay.
